Shonda Singleton-Taylor has been baking and cooking for more than 20 years, and she started our company in 2009. We began as a dessert company and later ventured into catering. As we grew, we renamed our company Gertrude’s Kitchen, LLC in honor of Motherdear, Shonda's Grandmother. It was Motherdear who taught Shonda how to cook and bake long before she decided to attend culinary school.
Shonda earned her Associate of Science degree in Baking and Pastry from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. In addition, she holds a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration, respectively from Florida A&M University.
